Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, February 9, 2021

I.   Call to order

a)   Hunter Miller called to order the executive committee meeting of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Lafayette at 6:07 pm on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 via Zoom.

II.  Roll call

a)   The following persons were present: Bill Edwards, Scott Ferguson, Bruce Snow, Kiera Frey, Hunter Miller, Emily Carline, Chris Menard, Judi Hamilton.

III. Treasurer’s report, February 2021

499.00 UUA 2021 dues

 

Pledges:

7 @ $8000; goal: $11,700

 

Notes:

   Paid UUA dues

   LUS: Messed up our billing but will show up next month.

a)      Last year we had $10,000 in pledges; we are continuing our pledge drive through February.

b)      We’re down 418 from last month but have 500 dues which is annual, so our income is neutral.

c)   Hunter Miller moved to approve this Treasurer’s report, seconded by Emily Carline. The motion carried.

V.  New business

a) Kiera would like to request to use the building on Saturday, February 6 at 10:30 AM for yoga class.

Kiera’s friend teaches yoga but is uncomfortable with her current studio’s lax masking policy.

i)   Kiera will sponsor her for use of the building.

Services committee report-- let's hear how things have been going and if any help or changes are needed to make it smoother/better

a.       $50 from honorarium for speaker this Sunday, February 7th  (Mary Pritchard with ARCH of Acadiana)

b.      Tested bouncing ball for reading/singing cohesion but the animation and lagging was a problem.

ii)     Social concerns - discuss sending valentine's/words of encouragement to people experiencing homelessness

a.       Members could write valentines to people experiencing homelessness and send them to the United Way to distribute, similar to the goody bags.

b.      United Way provides 3-4 dinners in a bag that is boxed and distributed to families. The valentines could be included with these.

c.       Deadline: Friday, February 12th

d.      Similar idea: handwrite letters to members who haven’t been coming to recent meetings (discuss in March)

VI. Adjournment

a)   Hunter Miller adjourned the meeting at 6:37 pm.
