General Congregational Meeting Minutes
October 13, 2019
This meeting followed the Sunday morning service. The meeting of the congregation was convened at 11:35 am by President Jackie Phelps. We met in our new building located at 1119 Johnston St. A total of 15 people were in attendance.
- President’s message - President Jackie Phelps welcomed everyone and gave a short description of our new building. She reported that we were considering the possibility of engaging a part time minister. An ad hoc committee will set up to Policies and Procedures Manual. She reported that we still have needs for for furnishings and supplies for our building. She asked that the Services Committee be in charge of setting up the building for Sunday service. Finally, she expressed the hope that we will see future growth because of our new facilities.
- Committee reports
- treasurer - account balances were presented. Costs for moving will come from the savings account.
- Services Committee - Hunter Miller reported that they are researching options.
- Website committee - A meeting is scheduled for Thursday.
- Social Concerns - Scott Ferguson reported on the climate strike rally at Putnam Park last month, about 100+ in attendance. He also discussed an opportunity to travel with Move The Mindset on a trip to the Justice Museum in November.
- Vice President - not present
- Membership and RE - positions are vacant.
- Logo and T-shirts - There was a presentation of new t-shirt and logo design It was moved to accept new logo. The vote was unanimous (12) among those remaining in attendance. An opportunity for email voting will be provided for members who were not in attendance.
- Discussion -
- We have a few items left over from prior sales.
- Having an evening group trash pick up in the neighborhood was suggested.
- Linda Hoagland announced that she recently performed a same sex marriage. We discussed how the availability of this service of our Fellowship might be better publicized.
- Closing - the meeting was adjourned at 12:30
